presented by Marie Barney at the 2019 Knitting Retreat, September 13-15.

Workshop Description
Each participant will gain the skills and confidence to dye yarn in their own home. The techniques taught in this class can produce the rich, vivid colors possible with direct application methods. Instruction will emphasize safety protocols. During the workshop the presenter and her assistant, properly equipped for safety, will do any task that would expose participants to harmful particles and fumes.

Marie Barney discovered the world of yarn dyeing relatively recently, but she quickly became consumed by the art. She has devoured books and videos, experimented with unusual application tools and techniques, and built up a massive supply of acid dyes from multiple manufacturers. She hasn’t bought a single skein of commercially dyed yarn since beginning her journey. Her stash of natural, un-dyed yarn is rivaled only by her stash of her own hand-dyed yarn. Marie has accomplished much in a short span of time. Now she’s eager to help you explore this fascinating and satisfying aspect of “slow knitting”—dyeing your own materials.
